New building at Infopark

T. Ramachandran

Kochi: The formal inauguration of L&T’s first building at Kochi’s Infopark by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan is likely to take place on March 15. With this building, Tejomaya, having become operational a few days ago, the total built-up space at Infopark is close to touching the one million square feet mark.

The ten-storied building, by itself, has added about 4 lakh square feet to the total built-up area available in the park for use by IT and ITES units.

Some of the companies that booked space in the building had started moving in, said Park sources. Four of the floors of the building have already been booked by companies, with TCS taking two of the floors. The other companies are IBS Software Services and Arbitron Technology Services.

L&T, which is involved in ventures for the setting up of software parks in various parts of the country including Hyderabad and Bangalore, is also beginning the next phase of its L&T Techpark project in Infopark, which will involve the construction of a 20-storied building, with a built-up area of 6.75 lakh square feet being made available over 16 of the floors. The ground and three other floors will be earmarked for car parking. This building will be called Signature Tower and has been architecturally designed as a twin-tower.

Tejomaya, built on a plot of four acres on the Infopark campus, has central air conditioning and other state of the art facilities.

It offers data and voice connectivity through multiple service providers. A 24-hour 350-seater food court and executive dining facility, gymnasium and health club, business centre, conference room with 100 seats and extensive parking space are among the other facilities being offered.

Infopark now has three other buildings, the five-storied Thapasya which dates back to the period before the setting up of Infopark, with a built-up area of about 1.3 lakh square feet, and Vismaya, commissioned after the park came into being, which offers about 2.5 lakh square feet, spread over nine floors.

Apart from L&T, the other Infopark co-developer, the Leela Group, has also put up a building with an area of 1.3 lakh square feet. Three IT companies are setting up dedicated facilities of their own at Infopark, Wipro, TCS and IBS,– of which the construction of the campus of Wipro is almost complete. Besides, Infopark itself is starting construction of a new building very soon.
