Utsav provided a platform to several artistes to perform It offered more than an amusement for people MANGALORE: The Karavali Utsav, extended from February 4 to 10 owing to public demand, comes to an end on Sunday. Although the fun games, commercial stalls and eateries formed the focal point of the exhibition, the utsav was drawing thousands of people everyday towards Mangala Stadium by offering much more than amusement. The events such as beach festival, kite-flying competition and cultural programmes, conducted on a special platform at the venue of the utsav and at the Town Hall, made the 50-day programme a spectacle. The exhibition of flowers and plants at Kadri Park and Pilikula Nisarga Dhama were other attractions. Official sources said that the novel feature of the utsav was the early morning musical concerts and light classical programmes on Panambur beach which were begun a week ago. Azadi Express Train showcased freedom struggle of India from December 27 to 31.
The utsav provided a platform to several artistes, including folk performers, Tulu and Kannada theatre artistes, Yakshagana artistes and classical singers to showcase their talents.
