MANGALORE: The city unit of Jaycees on Saturday celebrated their 46th anniversary by organising nine programmes as it was the ninth day of February. The programmes were begun from 9 a.m. They organised a new programme for every hour thereafter and called it as ‘Marathon 999’. A spokesperson of Jaycees said more than 300 students participated in the first programme which focussed on study-skills and preparation for examinations by students of government high schools. It was followed by blood grouping campaign at KSRTC bus stand for staff members. A talk on the right to information was conducted at 11 a.m. Members of the organisation handed over 30,000 Railway reservation forms with JCI logo to the Railway authorities. A session on parents’ role in students’ success was attended by 60 parents and 20 students. It was followed by an entertainment programme and fruit distribution at an Old Age Home in the city. Polio awareness camp was held on the exhibition ground of Karavali Utsav where a singing competition was also held. As many as 65 singers took part in this competition. A phone-in programme on examination-pressure drew 12 calls from students, the spokesperson said.
