“Sunday will see a further dip in mercury” Cold wave influenced by fresh snowfall in hills NEW DELHI: Spring seems still some distance away for the Capital with the weatherman forecasting yet another cold week ahead for the city. Saturday saw the minimum temperature dip from 9 degrees Celsius to 5.6 degrees. “Sunday will see a further downslide of the mercury and we are forecasting a fall in the temperature by one to two degrees this coming week. After this general fall, the cold wave conditions are expected to abate and temperatures may stabilise soon,” said the Director of the Regional Meteorological Centre, S. C. Bhan. “Cold wave conditions are likely to continue for a few more days, but there will be relief in store for city dweller some time soon. The cold, moisture-less northern winds are the cause for the cold wave conditions in the northern part of the country. Delhi’s cold wave condition is also being influenced by the fresh snowfall in the hills,” Mr. Bhan added. The city braved cold winds on Saturday though the sky remained mainly clear. The BBC website recorded the minimum temperature on Saturday at 6 degrees Celsius and forecast a fall in the minimum temperature for Sunday.
