CDS: protesters to go the Gandhian way

Lok Satta, residents’ bodies seek scrapping of the scheme

LSP, residents’ associations to file PIL

February 11 to be observed as ‘black day’

HYDERABAD: Lok Satta Party, in association with several Residents Welfare Associations (RWA) of the twin cities, has chosen ‘Gandhigiri’ to exert pressure on authorities to scrap the Compulsory Disclosure Scheme (CDS). Residents from several parts of city have decided to hoist black flags in their colonies on Monday protesting against the CDS.

At a meeting on the CDS between Lok Satta and members of the RWAs at the Lok Satta Party office on Saturday, it was also decided to take judicial recourse on the issue. The Lok Satta, in association with RWAs, decided to file public interest litigation. The members of RWA also decided to petition High Court separately against the CDS. Members of Lok Satta and RWAs gave a call to general public to observe February 11 as ‘black day’. Peaceful protests would be taken up in colonies.

End-user penalised

Several residents from various colonies felt that builders, developers and municipal authorities, who were responsible for the present scenario, were not being penalised adequately. “Punishing the end-user for the mistakes of builders, developers and municipal authorities is quiet unfair. Apart from legal recourse for complete scrapping of the CDS, we will take to Ghandhigiri to force authorities,” said vice-president of GHMC Committee for Lok Satta K. Srinivasa Rao. Several members of RWAs demanded that the issue should be discussed in detail in the Assembly.
