They managed to take a large quantity of kerosene for use in restaurants where they were employed
TAMBARAM: Residents of Mahalakshmi Nagar near Tambaram on Saturday nabbed two youths, who allegedly siphoned off kerosene in connivance with a salesman at a fair price shop.
The fair price shop of Kancheepuram District Consumer Cooperative Society (No. KDO 29) caters to residents of Mahalakshmi Nagar, Rajakilpakkam and Sembakkam. At around 4 p.m., residents noticed three youths filling up four cans of kerosene at the shop without producing ration cards. They complained to the Sembakkam town panchayat. A.R.D. Loganathan, president of the local body, who happened to visit the area at that time, was informed about it. Along with a few other councillors, they managed to track down the two youths who fled the spot and brought them back to the shop. The third escaped.
The Assistant Commissioner’s office of Civil Supplies in Tambaram was also informed and the staff visited the spot. Investigations revealed that the boys, whose identity is yet to be established, had managed to take a fairly large quantity of kerosene for use in restaurants where they were employed.
