SAIL leads goal-scoring spree

HYDERABAD: Defending champion, Steel Authority of India Ltd, recorded the biggest win of the day when it trounced a hapless Puducherry 31-0 in the preliminary round of the 4th junior National hockey championship at Gachibowli Complex here on Saturday.

Amardeep Ekka led the scoring spree with nine goals. Xavier Ekka tallied five goals. Nine other players also got their names into the scorers list bringing the total number of goal scorers to 11 (including substitutes).

In another high-scoring match, Sports Authority of India Combined XI continued it’s fine run with a resounding 28-0 win over Madhya Bharat. Front liners Azam and Janardhan were the main scorers with five goals apiece while five others figured among the goal scorers.

On the other hand Jharkhand and Manipur in a keen contest were locked in a two-all draw.
