Chennai: R. Ashwin’s unbeaten 100 (98 balls) helped Jolly Rovers-Chemplast defeat Parry’s in the VAP Memorial Trophy limited overs cricket tournament on Saturday. Jolly Rovers-Chemplast piled on a massive 349 for six in 50 overs, with openers M. Vijay and R. Ramkumar putting on 126 runs in 15 overs. Parry’s was set a revised target of 239 in 26 overs, after rain interrupted its chase with the score at 70 for one in 15 overs. Parry’s managed 119 for the loss of two wickets. In another match IOB registered a one-wicket win over IB, with D. Pramod Das making 50. P.T. Rama Rao’s 102 went in vain for Eagle-Gautams Offset, as Aruna-Precision Infomatic successfully chased a revised target of 177 in 35 overs. P. Sijith Chandran and Aditya Ganesh put on 64 for the third wicket, to take Aruna home. The match between Young Stars-SSI and Vijay-India Cements was called off due to rain. The scores: IB 197 in 46 overs (L. Suryapprakash 61, K.H. Gopinath 40, J. Joel Joseph four for 30) lost to IOB 198 for nine in 45.2 overs (D. Pramod Das 50, R.M. Karthik 42). IOB: 4 points. Young Stars-SSI 270 for eight in 50 overs (S. Satishkumar 47, R. Ravikumar 40, S. Anand 43, M. Ravi 42, K. Anand 57, S. Suresh four for 32) vs. Vijay-India Cements 26 for one in six overs (match called off due to rain). Young Stars: 2, Vijay-India Cements: 2. Eagle-Gautams Offset 210 in 45.3 overs (P.T. Rama Rao 102, S. Anirudha four for 34) lost to Aruna-Precision Infomatic 180 for six in 34.2 overs (P. Sijith Chandran 54, Aditya Ganesh 47) (target revised due to rain).
