Vikas, Kiran shine

Bangalore: Vikas’ 96 and Kiran’s four for 28 helped Jayanagar Colts defeat City Gymkhana by 117 runs in a MTR Nivarana Basavanagudi Cup tournament match here.

The scores:

Jayanagar Colts 274 for seven in 29 overs (Vikas 96, Sumukh 51) bt City Gymkhana 157 for nine in 29 overs (Ajith 45, M.N. Kiran four for 28).

Bangalore Cricketers 193 in 27 overs (Habib 47) bt Engrades 82 in 21 overs (Nelson Pinto four for 20).

Jaidur Cricketers 230 for seven in 30 overs (Jagadish 44, Chetan 42) bt Hanumantha Nagar CC 192 for nine in 28 overs (G.K. Anil Kumar 72).

Easy for Canara Bank

Canara Bank defeated ASC 4-1 in the semifinals of the Field Marshall Cariappa memorial hockey tournament here on Saturday. Krishna Reddy (30th min.), John Verghese (42nd), Sunil Benjamin (47th) and Varun Chinappa (57th) scored for the winner while R. Bengra scored ASC’s goal.

In the other semifinal, KSP defeated MLI 2-0. Mohan Kumar (fourth min.) and Pradeep (eighth min.) scored for KSP. The final between Canara Bank and KSP will be held on Monday.

Vijaya CC posts win

Vijaya CC (Hunsur) registered a 35-run win over City Cricketers (Mandya) in the KSCA Mysore Zone second division league cricket encounter at Mysore on Saturday.

The scores: Vijaya CC (Hunsur) 158 in 34 overs (Srinivas 46) bt City Cricketers (Mandya) 123 in 39.2 overs.

Match drawn

Thamaraikannan FC held Vel Socials to a 1-1 draw in the State ‘C’ division football league match in Bangalore on Saturday. Govindarajulu scored for Vel Socials in the 20th minute and Rajendra equalised for TFC in the 36th.
