Yakubu stars for Mahindra

Mumbai: Spearheaded by a brace from Ghana’s Yusif Yakubu, Mahindra United outclassed Sporting Clube de Goa 3-0 in an ONGC I-League football match here on Saturday.

Yakubu scored the first two goals for the winner in the 31st and 51st minutes to put Mahindra on top and the host rounded off the tally in the 75th minute through Sushant Mathew’s effort. The victory boosted Mahindra’s tally to 24 points to be fifth, while Sporting Clube remained seventh with 17 points. — PTI
