ALAPPUZHA: Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy formally launched a Fluorosis Research Project and a Fluorosis Resource Centre at the T.D. Medical College (TDMC), Vandanam, here on Saturday. The project, which is a combined endeavour of the Community Medicine Department of the TDMC and the Delhi Fluorosis Research Foundation, has been initiated here in the backdrop of the abnormally high content of fluoride in drinking water across Alappuzha. While TDMC Community Medicine Department head Thomas Mathew will be the principal research officer, P. Gopalakrishnan, who was an associate professor with the department earlier, will be the project officer. — Staff Reporter
