Kozhikode: T.V. Balan has been elected secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) district unit. The election was held at the party’s district convention in Koyilandy. Mr. Balan, a senior CPI member, represents the Feroke ward in the district panchayat. Thirty-four members were elected to the district council at a special session of the convention. Sathyan Mokeri, party State secretariat member, presided.
