‘All the screens will be telecom networked’ 7 of the new screens will be in the unpaid area NEW DELHI: To provide information to commuters about trains schedules, security and other related issues, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will install huge screens at several of its stations over the next six months. Initially 25 Light Emitting Diode (LED) screens, each 150 inches and above, will be installed at eight stations on Line 3 -- Indraprastha to Dwarka Sector 9. The stations where these screens can be seen include Pragati Maidan, R. K. Ashram, Karol Bagh, Rajendra Place, Rajouri Garden, Janakpuri (West), Uttam Nagar (East) and Dwarka Sector-9. Similar screens will be installed at other stations of the metro in future, a DMRC official said. The LED screens will be three times bigger than the 42-inch Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screens currently put up at Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate metro stations. They will use Japanese and German technology for longer life and sharper picture and will be ISO 9001:2000 certified. “All the screens will be telecom networked and passenger information such as train timings and security messages will be displayed on them. Instant messages in the form of tickers can also be displayed on the screens,” a DMRC official said. Seven of the new screens will be available in the unpaid area of stations and the other 18 in the concourse areas so that commuters can see them before entering the platforms.
