Letters to the Editor
The edit page article, ‘The urgency of concluding the nuclear deal’ (Feb. 9), has exposed the speciousness of the objections raised against the Indo-U.S. civilian nuclear deal. The issue has shown how political opportunism can easily mislead public opinion. It appears that an overdose of debate has enabled the opponents of the deal to turn logic on its head by projecting the agreement as against national interests whereas the truth is that it will go a long way in securing India’s interests. What is at stake is a golden opportunity to end the nation’s nuclear isolation and reduce dependency on fossil fuels to a certain extent. V.N. Mukundarajan, Thiruvananthapuram
