Students fare well in sporting events

PUDUCHERRY: Students of St. Patrick School fared well in the XXI Annual State Athletic Championship conducted by the Pondicherry Amateur Athletic Association recently.

Roshan Sebastian won the first place in discus throw and shot-put events in the under-16 boys category. Sriram won the second place in high jump.

In the Under-16 girls category, Sridevi came first in high jump and second in long jump. Varsha, of the same school, came second in shot-put.

Another student, Anushree, came third in high jump. In the under-14 boys category, Samuel secured the second place in 100 m sprint event.

Selvan S. Shanmugam Priyan of Standard VI of the Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School was awarded a gold medal in the “PEE WEE Male” division at the National Taekwondo championship 2008. Selvan represented Puducherry in the competition, held at Kolkata.

G. Aravindh of Standard VI-B of the Alpha Matriculation Higher Secondary School studying received a gold medal for his excellent performance in the Brain-O-Brain competition held recently at Loyola College, Chennai. He also won the Karate Competition and the National Championship of Puducherry.

Education Minister M.O.H.F. Shahjahan and Director General of Police A.S Khan complimented the student for his achievements.
