VISAKHAPATNAM: There was jubilation at the NCC Group Headquarters. Rightly so, the cadets and officers and staff had every reason to be so. The AP Directorate of NCC has won Prime Minister’s Banner this year after a gap of 45 years.

In all, 19 cadets from Visakhapatnam Group represented the AP Directorate in the Republic Day Parade held in New Delhi. At a function organised here on Monday, Group Commander Capt. A.S. Baghel gave away prizes to all the 19 champions.

Disciplined

He said that the AP contingent was the most well-behaved and disciplined among all the 17 Directorates in the country.

He commended the cadets on their success and their parents for guiding them in the right way. He added that the Chief Minister had also promised to give cash incentives to the cadets.

Competitions

Lt. Cdr. D.S. Murthy, the contingent commander who led the team, said that competitions were held in 15 categories including drill, cultural and audio-visual presentations. The AP Directorate bagged the first place in four and second place in three competitions.

Administrative Officer Rithima Singh spoke.

Later, the Group Commander interacted with the champions.
