Projection of violence in TV serials resented

Special Correspondent

KADAPA: The Director-General of Vigilance and Enforcement S.K. Jayachandra called for drastic checks on the portrayal of violence and sex on television, as some programmes and serials were corrupting the minds of youngsters and were impacting them adversely.

A wide range of information was available on internet and teachers should guide the students about information that should be browsed and what to be rejected, he said while speaking as chief guest at the 20th annual day of Pushpagiri Group of Institutions at Kalakshetram here on Sunday night.

Students should devote 50 per cent of their time to education and 25 per cent each to games and upkeep of health and fitness, he said.

Mr. Jayachandra gave away sarees to some poor women, mementos and appreciation letters to some blind students. Director M. Vivekananda Reddy said the school has an extensive computer lab with chapter-wise CDs from fifth standard onwards.

Chairman of the institutions M. Dayanand Reddy said the school which started with 130 students two decades ago, has a student strength of 1,800 now.

A.P. Grameena Bank Manager J. Vijayabhaskar promised to grant educational loans to students passing Intermediate. Additional SP L.S. Chowhan also participated. Students presented cultural programmes, classical and film dances.
