Motivating Plus Two, SSLC students of fishing community

PUDU KOTTAI: Students of fishing community, appearing for Plus Two and SSLC public examinations, are vying with one another to do well, thanks to a special cash purse instituted by the Department of Fisheries to encourage rank-holders from coastal areas.

For Plus Two candidates from the community, Rs.3,000 each will be given to a boy and a girl securing the highest marks in the district. For SSLC candidates, the first prize carries Rs,1,000, the second Rs. 500 and the third prize Rs.300.

The following students from Pudukottai district won the honours in March/April last: In Plus Two examination, Poosarasan, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Manamelkudi (930 marks) and M. Vishnupriya, (837 marks) from Government Higher Secondary School, Kattumavadi.

In SSLC examination, M. Karthikeyan (408) from Government Higher Secondary School, Kattumavadi, and M. Vaishnavi (420) of Government Higher Secondary School, Kattumavadi, secured the first prize among boys and girls.

The second prize went to M. Dinesh (356) from Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kattumavadi, and S. Nivedhitha (363) of Government Higher Secondary School, Kattumavadi.

The third prize was won by Anandaraj (347) from Government Higher Secondary School, Kattumavadi, and V. Ushrarani (354) of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Manamelkudi.

In Tiruchi, the prizes were given away by Collector Ashish Vachhani recently.
