SC/ST status sought for Yadavs Railways to focus on jobs for local people Chitradurga: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has said that work on the railway line connecting Chitradurga and Tumkur would begin within a month. Speaking after inaugurating a State-level Yadav Sammelan here on Monday, he said the Railway Ministry had enough funds to take up work on the project. Mr. Prasad said he was aware of the backwardness of Chitradurga city as he had visited it in the past. “I know that Chitradurga is a neglected district, owing to which much development has not taken place.” The Railway Ministry would focus on the advancement of the district and ensure generation of employment opportunities for the local people, he said.Earlier, he laid the foundation stone of a students’ hostel for the community and donated Rs. 10 lakh from his party fund towards its construction. Stressing the significance of education, he said that owing to illiteracy, the community had lagged behind in various social sectors. In a globalised world, it was essential that people of the Yadav community focussed on education, he said. Expressing gratitude to Shivamurthy Murughaswami of the Murugharajendra Math for allotting land for the Yadav Math and anointing a religious leader to guide the community, he said that now the people had a leader who could organise them on a common platform to help voice their concerns. The community should utilise this opportunity to show their strength and get justice, Mr. Prasad said.
