ALAPPUZHA: Over 250 lawyers from Alappuzha will be participating in the second State Convention of the Indian Lawyers Congress (ILC), which will begin at Kozhikode on Friday. Union Minister for Indian Affairs Overseas Vayalar Ravi will inaugurate the two-day convention, which will have nearly 2,000 delegates from the across the State, ILC vice-president D. Vijayakumar said. Problems faced by advocates, attacks on the judiciary, stipend for junior advocates and enhancement of the welfare fund for lawyers will be among the issues to be discussed during the convention. Leader of Opposition Oommen Chandy and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala would attend the valedictory function of the convention on Saturday, he added.
