Militants’ arrest

This refers to the arrest on Saturday of six militants reportedly involved in the attack on the CRPF camp at Rampur and earlier the IISc campus in Bangalore by the Special Task Force of the U.P. police. The arrest is significant because they planned to strike at some places in Mumbai too. Whether more such groups are operating in the country is a question that remains unanswered. The security forces should be on their toes.

R.K. Divakara,

Bangalore

The recent successes achieved by our security forces in nabbing suspected terrorists is a welcome development. However, we have a long way to go. Our intelligence network should be strengthened with “hotline” links established between the Centre and all State capitals for instant alerts on possible attacks. Every threat perception should be taken with the utmost seriousness.

D.B.N. Murthy,

Bangalore
