JAIPUR: One person was crushed to death and four were injured in a stampede during a recruitment drive for the Central Industrial Security Force on its campus at Kunda village, near here on Monday. A massive turnout of candidates reportedly led to the tragedy. Police sources here said over 80,000 aspirants gathered at the CISF base ground for recruitment to the specialised posts of barbers and washermen. The stampede took place when confusion arose over some matter just as the test was to start and the applicants scrambled towards the sole entry point. The candidates appearing for the test had come from as far as Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. Those injured were rushed to the Sawai Man Singh Hospital, where a youth succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Ramji Lal. According to eyewitness accounts, there were inadequate facilities for candidates on the ground.The recruitment process was called off after the incident.
