CA, IPL agree on most issues: Report

Melbourne: Cricket Australia and Indian Premier League organisers have broken ice on two crucial issues which has brightened chances of Australian cricketers being available for auction on February 20 for the inaugural Twenty20 tournament, a media report claimed.

The report said significant progress has been made in the negotiations and players such as Ricky Ponting, Brett Lee and Andrew Symonds could be available for the February 20 auction in Mumbai. It said the stipulation in the original contract that the Australians would not be released by the IPL to play for their states or attend national training camps during the tournament has been cleared.

Significant progress has also been made in relation to players’ obligations to endorse products that may clash with Cricket Australia’s commercial partners, The Age said. — PTI
