MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on Monday tied the knot with his girlfriend of several years, Dilnasheen Amir Ahmad Sheikh aka Manyata, as per Hindu rituals at a simple ceremony at her residence in suburban Versova. Manyata, 32, was being seen by Sanjay, 48, during his long court trial in the Mumbai blasts case that had led to his conviction and imprisonment. He is out on bail now. A joyful Sanjay asked mediapersons waiting outside his bride’s home: “Are you happy with my marriage?” He thanked the media for the affirmative response and said he was happy too. “I am so happy that I do not have words to express,” said the bride. According to some reports, Sanjay and Manyata got married in Goa on February 7 under the Special Marriage Act in the presence of a few friends. PTI reports: Sanjay’s family members, including his sisters, Lok Sabha MP Priya Dutt and Namrata Gaurav, were not present at the wedding. Ms. Priya Dutt later said she was happy for her brother but claimed she was not aware of the marriage. Rumours were rife that the sisters did not attend the marriage as they were not in favour of his alliance with Manyata. However, Ms. Priya set the record straight: “I am very happy and will wish him when he comes home.” She appeared surprised over the media interest in her brother’s marital status. “I don’t think the marriage should be given so much importance. Sanjay and Manyata were seeing each other for a long time,” she said.
