Delhi police ASI arrested for graft

NEW DELHI: The personal assistant to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Delhi) has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs.50,000 from a builder.

The victim told the CBI that the complaint against him was lodged at the Rajouri Garden police station following a dispute between him and his business partner regarding use of the rooftop of a building for commercial purposes. Acting on the complaint, the local police visited the construction site and stopped the construction work.

The builder came into contact with Assistant Sub-Inspector Neeraj Kumar who was posted as a stenographer at the DCP (West Delhi) office. It is alleged that Neeraj assured the complainant that he would help him get the matter settled by using his influence on the local police and demanded Rs.50,000 for the job.
