Wednesday 5 p.m. is the deadline Land acquisition to be completed by February 15 KOCHI: Residents of Eloor and Cheranalloor who will be displaced following the road connectivity to the Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal should give their consent letter before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, in the wake of the rehabilitation package announced by the State government, District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish said in a release here on Monday. A decision on the demand for five cents each for evictees of Moolamppilly would be taken within a week. Land acquisition for the project need to be completed by February 15. Meanwhile, the functioning of the special office at Udyogamandal for ICTT land acquisition was moved under the direct control of the District Collector. ADM A.K. Thankappan and Land Acquisition Deputy Collector Rema Devi would coordinate the functioning of the office. Any complaints on the issue could be addressed to either of them, the release said. Fifty-five families would be evicted from Eloor and Cheranalloor villages. Two acres in Thuthiyoor in Vazhakkala village was being readied for those being evicted from Eloor. The land was being filled. Evictees from Cheranalloor would be rehabilitated at 2.5 acres in Vaduthala. Another 40 cent in Vaduthala and 75 cent in Korambadam were being readied for rehabilitating evictees from Moolamppilly, the release said. People’s representatives and government officials would tour project-affected areas to distribute pamphlets and explain about the development projects being taken up by the government and to create awareness about rehabilitation packages being offered. The lot for rehabilitation land for those who had given their land in Edappally South and North villages for railway line would be drawn at the Collectorate on February 18. Grading of land has begun at Thuthiyoor. Merchants in the village should move within February 20 and residents should move within February 25. Six months’ rent would be provided to evictees who report along with an attestation from the local councillor. Compensation would be given to those with ownership certificate over Railway B-class land, the release said. The lot for 84 plots meant to rehabilitate those evicted from Vaduthala would be drawn on February 22. Land of those who do not give consent letter would be acquired by invoking the Land Acquisition Act. An all-party meeting would be convened to sort out issues in Mulavukad village, the Collector said. The Kochi Mayor is expected to attend the drawing of lots.
