High Court directive to Delhi police

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday directed the Delhi police to obtain a list of employers of minor domestic helps from placement agencies in the Capital to find out the nature of exploitation, if any, these children were subjected to by the employers and the agencies.

A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Vikramjit Sen and P. K. Bhasin passed the direction on a petition by a non-government organisation, “Shramajivi Mahila Sansthan”, alleging that certain placement agencies in the Capital were trafficking girls and boys from West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and forcing them into the sex racket in the name of employment as domestic helps.

Counsel for the petitioner alleged that the placement agencies deducted half the amount from the wages of these children.
