Computer facility at Golden Rock workshop

TIRUCHI: An augmented computer facility with 30 systems and structured networking local and wide area network connections and peripherals has been opened at Workshop Stores and Accounts Office of Central Workshop, Golden Rock here.

The facility will digitise all details and data pertaining to disbursal of salary to the staff and other payments for labourers, besides entries about provident fund payment through the electronic clearing system.

Fast transfer of data

It will also facilitate electronic fund transfers for payment of bills to contractors and suppliers, linking the accounts office with other offices and shop floors in the Golden Rock Workshop and establishing link with Chennai server for fast transfer of data.

The pension records and staff provident fund data can be stored electronically.

A materials management information system will be launched shortly connecting all six stores under the jurisdiction of the office.

Staff training programme

A staff training programme on Oracle, Developer 2000, Visual Basic and other allied computer hardware will be organised.

Inaugurating the facility, M. Jeyachandren, Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer of Stores and Workshop, stressed the importance of improving computer literacy and the need to introduce high technology for further improving the efficiency in the area of maintenance of accounts.

Chief Workshop Manager S. Rangarajan and Senior Assistant Financial Adviser, Workshop and Stores Accounts, T. Velusamy were among those who were present.
