DAVANGERE: The Children’s India Association has organised an international children’s film festival in Bangalore, Mangalore, Hassan and Davangere from February 18 to February 21. Thirty-two films in various languages would be screened at the festival. Nanjunde Gowda, chairman of the association, told presspersons here on Monday that actor Prem would inaugurate the film festival here. Expressing concern over the decline in the number of children films, Mr. Gowda stressed the need for bringing out quality children’s movies. Besides Bangalore, the festival was being organised at other centres to reach out to children in these regions, he said and added that the support of the district administration, Education Department and other organisations had been sought for the festival. He said that a delegation of film producers and directors, among others, would request the government to provide Rs. 25 lakh subsidy for children films as Rs. 2 lakh being given now was inadequate.
