Assembly polls: BJP plans protest
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: The Bharatiya Janata Party is planning to stage a “Raj Bhavan chalo” against the delay in holding elections to the Legislative Assembly.
Sources in the BJP said a formal decision on the nature of the protest would be taken at the party’s special State executive committee meeting in Bangalore on February 14.
The party, which has been accusing the Governor of maladministration and ignoring implementation of prominent budgetary schemes announced by B.S. Yeddyurappa, would use the occasion to create public awareness on these issues, the sources said.
About 350 leaders, including its state office-bearers, MPs, MLCs, former MLAs and district unit presidents will take part in the meeting.
BJP vice-president Yashwant Sinha, who is also Karnataka in charge, will also participate in it.
