Bangalore: Do not put away your raincoats, umbrellas, sweaters and shawls just yet. Bangalore may still have a few more wet and cold days.
According to the Meteorological Department here on Monday, though the rainfall at this time of the year is not normal, Bangalore has experienced it several times earlier. Over the past 24 hours, the city received 5.2 mm of rainfall.
Wet spell
The department officials attribute the wet spell to La Nina (Spanish for “the little girl”). Officials said that La Nina is the opposite of El Nino and typically causes wet spells. They said it could also be because of the unutilised sea energy, which could be because of a fewer cyclonic storms than usual in the Bay of Bengal.
They also said that the weather may gradually dissipate and get back to normal within two to three days.
