Professor killed in accident

NAMAKKAL: A professor was killed when a lorry dashed against his moped near here on Monday. Police said Ramasamy (56), working in the Chemistry department of Government Arts College, was returning home from the college, when the accident took place.

Youth hacked to death

An unidentified gang hacked a youth to death in broad day light at Thammampatti bus stand near Attur on Tuesday. Police said Prabakaran (27) of Attur Railway colony was standing in the bus stand, when a group of persons approached and entered into an argument with him.

When he tried to run away from the spot, the group hacked him to death.

Passengers injured

As many as 25 passengers sustained injuries when a mini bus in which they were travelling overturned on the road at Singalandapuram near Rasipuram on Tuesday. Police said the vehicle proceeding was to Rasipuram. The injured were admitted to different hospitals.
