Dog lover pays with his life

BANGALORE: An animal lover, who abused a man for kicking a stray dog, was bludgeoned to death on Hosur Road in Parappana Agrahara police station limits on Monday.

The police gave his name as Gangadhar (37), a resident of Koodlu Gate on Hosur Road. On Sunday evening Gangadhar, an animal lover, noticed Ramesh kicking a stray dog. A quarrel broke out between the two after Gangadhar abused Ramesh for his act.

In an act of revenge, Ramesh and his friend Murugan allegedly smashed Gangadhar’s head with a cement brick near a burial ground at Koodlu Gate on Monday morning. Gangadhar was killed on the spot, the police said.

Body found

A young man was found murdered in K.R. Puram police station limits on Monday morning.

Passers-by found the murdered man’s body near the Vengaiah tank on Old Madras Road and alerted the police. The assailants had slit the victim’s throat with a sharp weapon, the police said. The police are trying to establish the identity of the dead. A driving licence in the name of Fayaz (35) of Devarajeevanahalli was found in the victim’s trouser pocket.

Woman murdered

A 35-year-old woman, mother of two, was clubbed to death allegedly by her husband at their house in Rajankunte on Doddaballapur Road the outskirts of the city on Sunday evening.

The police gave her name as Rathnamma, wife of Ramanjanappa (40), a labourer. Suspecting her fidelity, Ramanjanappa hit her on the head with a club. She died of injuries at a hospital, the police said. The couple were married for 17 years. The Rajanukunte police in Bangalore Rural district have registered a case.

Drowned

A girl died after she accidentally fell into water drum at her house in Yelahanka police station limits on Sunday evening.

The police said the incident took place at Prashanthi’s house in Kondappa Layout in Yelahanka. When her parents were busy with the construction of a toilet, two-and-a-half year-old Dhanalakshmi fell into the drum on the first floor of the house.

Her parents, who searched for the girl for over an hour, found her body floating in the drum, the police said.
