Congress MLC takes a dig at TDP during motion of thanks to Governor’s address Agitated TDP members allege he is deviating from the subject
Friendly banter: TDP MLCs jeer Congress MLC Ganga Bhavani after they boycott the Council in Hyderabad on Tuesday. HYDERABAD: Members of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti on Tuesday staged a walkout from the Legislative Council to protest non-inclusion of steps for the formation of separate State in Governor N.D. Tiwari’s address to the Legislature. As the proceedings commenced, TRS members led by K. Dilip Kumar pressed Chairman A. Chakrapani to allow an adjournment motion for discussion on Telangana. With the Chair turning down the request, the members, carrying placards, marched into the well of the House raising slogans in support of a separate State. DisruptionThe proceedings were disrupted for about 20 minutes, as repeated requests by Mr. Chakrapani and Legislative Affairs Minister K. Rosaiah went in vain. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti members, who trooped out of the House later, raised slogans for some time before leaving the premises. The Telugu Desam members too staged a walkout during the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address initiated by Paladugu Venkata Rao (Congress) alleging that the member was deviating from the subject in making charges against the party leader N. Chandrababu Naidu. Indirect criticismMr. Rao, who commenced his speech by highlighting the Government’s achievements, launched indirect criticism of the TDP regime claiming that the party was interested in harping on the visits of Bill Gates and Bill Clinton to the State. “Why did schemes like Paavala Vaddi (loans at three per cent interest) not occur to them,” he asked. The TDP members later squatted on the lawns in front of the Council Hall for sometime, even as the House was adjourned for the day.
