This Day That Age
The Government of India, in accordance with the policy of promoting exports, extended and enlarged the scheme of drawback of customs duty paid on imported materials used in the manufacture of a large number of exported articles. Some varieties of carbon paper, according to a press release, have been brought under the scope of the scheme and full rebate of customs duty will be allowed instead of 7/8th as hitherto. Imported soda ash used in the manufacture of glass and glassware also comes under the category. Glass will include glass containers, bangles, etc. Drawback of customs duty will also be allowed on certain imported material used in the manufacture of tissue paper, spectacle frames, sewing machines, playing cards, dry batteries, etc.
