dated February 13, 1958: David Lean honoured

The Screen Directors Guild in Hollywood on February 9 named David Lean, the British director of “The Bridge on the River Kwai” as the outstanding film director of the year. Runners up were Mark Robson for “Peyton Place”, Sidney Lumet for “Twelve Angry Men”, Joshua Logan for “Sayonara” and Billy Wilder for “Witness for the Prosecution”.
