Church ready for talks with CPI(M)

Thrissur: A day after CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat called upon it to come forward for a dialogue with the party to resolve differences, the Catholic Church said it was keen on avoiding a confrontation, without compromising on principles of faith. “We are not for confrontation with any political party or government. But we cannot compromise on issues concerning faith and basic tenets,” spokesman of Thrissur Archdiocese and Vicar- General Raphael Tahattil said. Welcoming Karat’s gesture, Fr. Tahattil told PTI that “the doors of the Church are always open for a dialogue with the CPI(M).” – PTI
