‘Clear proof in Brahmapuram generator case’
Staff Reporter
KOLLAM: Director-in-charge of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Siby Mathew has said that it was on the basis of clear evidence and proof that the charge-sheets in the Brahmapuram case had been filed.
Talking to presspersons here on Tuesday, he said the Vigilance investigation was based on the directions from an ad hoc judicial commission’s fact-finding inquiry.
He said that as per 1997 price value, the State had suffered a loss of about Rs.10 crore from the purchase of diesel generators from a French company. Five diesel generators of 20 MW capacity each were purchased for the Brahmapuram diesel power plant.
The price paid by Kerala was found to be exorbitantly higher than the price paid by Karnataka for the same generators. He said the terms entered into between Kerala and the French company were found to be harmful to the interests of the State and the KSEB.
