NEW DELHI: The Budget session of Parliament will begin on February 25 and end on May 9, it was officially announced here. The budget is to be presented in the Lok Sabha on February 29. Before this, the Economic Survey will be tabled. The Railway budget is expected to be unveiled on February 26. The session will open on February 25 with an address by President Pratibha Patil to a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The first part will conclude on March 20 when both Houses are expected to adjourn. Standing committeeThe standing committees will meet between March 20 and April 15 to consider in detail the budget proposals. Finally, the Houses will meet again on April 15 and the session will continue till May 9. The budget would have to be passed before May 1. This will be the 13th session of the 14th Lok Sabha when the United Progressive Alliance government will present its fifth budget. Next year, it is expected to be a vote-on-account as the Lok Sabha election will be due in May 2009 and a new government will present a full budget.
