Rupee recovers


MUMBAI: The Indian rupee overcame the pressure of portfolio outflows on encouraging trend in the Asian stock markets and gained by 3.50 paise to 39.6750 on Tuesday to snap the three-day losing streak.

The domestic currency came under pressure on concerns of over portfolio outflows in the face of lingering fears of a U.S. recession.

In a lacklustre trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the domestic currency opened slightly better at 39.67/69 against Monday’s close of 39.70/71. — PTI
