Municipal College wins

NEW DELHI: Municipal College, Rourkela, defeated Sri Meghbaran Singh Mahavidyalaya, Gazipur, 5-2 after the teams were locked 2-2 at half-time in the 15th SAIL Nehru Champion Colleges hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Tuesday.

Nuel Tirkey, Nitish Bhardwaj, Ashish Anmol Minz, Sunil Kujur and Anil Lakra shared the goals for the winner. Amarnath Ram scored both the goals for the Gazipur team.

In another match, Jawaharlal Nehru PG College, Bhopal, defeated Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai, 4-2 to secure a semifinal berth. Irfan Ali (2), Arif and Nadeem Baig were the marksmen for the winner. R. Sathyarajan and R. Ashok Kumar scored for the loser. — Special Correspondent
