On a mission: The three travellers with a mission to spread peace and harmony arriving at the revenue inspection bungalow in Berhampur on Tuesday. BERHAMPUR: After traversing over 1,08,000 kilometres on cycles in six years and eight days, three youths from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh on a trip for peace reached the city on Tuesday. This cycling expedition team was welcomed into the city by the Berhampur sub-collector and other officials. They would lead a peace march in the city on Thursday (Feb. 14). The team members of this long cycling expedition are Vijendra Kumar Mishra, Ranjeet Bachchan and the female member of the team, Kalindi Nirmal Sharma. All of them were members of ‘Rang Jagat’, a theatre group of Gorakhpur. They were also students of Bharatendu Natya Academy of Lucknow, a premier academy for acting in the country. Kalindi said 15 members of ‘Rang Jagat’ had planned to take up a cycling expedition around the country for peace. But eight of them started on the trip on Feb 4, 2002. Five members have dropped out during arduous journey during past years. But the rest three have plans to end their journey in 2012 at Gorakhpur. “We now plan to travel on cycles in neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Srilanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh with the message of peace before returning home,” Kalindi said. They have already cycled through Bhutan and 33 states and union territories of India.
