Pakistan nuclear energy technicians kidnapped

Nirupama Subramanian

Islamabad: There is no information yet about the fate of the two nuclear energy technicians who were kidnapped on Monday in the north-west frontier or of Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan who went missing near the Afghan border the same day.

A massive search operation has been launched.

The technicians of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission were kidnapped by masked gunmen from Sheikh Badin village in the troubled Dera Ismail Khan district. They were on a geological survey of the area.

Police say the kidnappers could be militants or a criminal gang.
