Fun and joy: Shah Rukh Khan, host of the new TV serial "Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain", with his young co-hosts in New Delhi on Tuesday. NEW DELHI: Proclaiming that he is extremely fond of children, Bollywood super star Shah Rukh Khan on Tuesday announced that will now try to reach out to them through a brand new television show. Based on the international Mark Burnett format “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?”, the new show by Star TV titled “Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?” will see adult contestants testing their wits against a group of sprightly 10-year-olds. Adults from different walks of life would be asked simple school level questions and would be allowed to take help from Class V students. “I wanted to do something new in my hometown Delhi. It is good to be back on television. Actually, I had never gone off the small screen and I owe my life to television,” said Shah Rukh with a beaming smile. Asserting that the show was very close to his heart, King Khan said that as an actor he had been taught to cater to children as they have the shortest attention span. “Some journalists who are talking here have even shorter spans of attention,” he added tongue-in-cheek. Asked whether his son Aryan would be part of the game show, Shah Rukh said he had shown a video of the show to his son and some other children in Mumbai. “All of them wanted to be a part of the show. I will not like to use the word intelligent, but to participate they would need to have a certain level of awareness. Not that my children are stupid. All kids who will watch the show will develop the curiosity so as to come on television. So, it is an entertainingly educative programme,” he added. “I was very keen to do this show because of the educational aspect attached to it, which has been an integral part of our culture. The format originated in the United States and has been launched in 50 countries,” said Shah Rukh.
