Officers agreed to create a post of nodal officer at the district level

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police and their counterparts in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have agreed in principle to develop an institutionalised mechanism for seamless policing in the National Capital Region to effectively control criminal activities.

At an inter-State coordination meeting here on Tuesday, senior officers of the three States stressed the need for a well-coordinated approach involving intelligence sharing and joint operations to contain inter-State criminals.

The focus of the meeting, which was attended by Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal and Director-General of Haryana Police R.S. Dalal, was to strengthen the arrangement for intelligence gathering and exchange of information on criminals.

While the latest trends in crime and modus operandi of criminals were discussed and crime-control strategies drawn up, officers also deliberated on the traffic problem keeping in view the rapid growth in the NCR.

Various solutions to the traffic management were also put forth.

The participants felt the need for regular meetings at the district and police station levels.

They also agreed to create a post of nodal officer at the district level for the purpose.

Issues pertaining to terrorist activities were also discussed.
