Two inspectors suspended

KANCHEEPURAM: Two police inspectors attached to the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) were placed under suspension for ‘dereliction of duty.’

Superintendent of Police K.Periaiya said in a release on Tuesday that inspector Gopal of PEW, Chengalpattu, was found guilty of not apprehending a prohibition offender in time, which subsequently resulted in a murder. Inspector Kannan of PEW, Madurantakam, was found guilty of not taking effective steps to check illicit liquor menace and for failing to arrest a bootlegger.
