Lachit Bordoloi, member of the People’s Consultative Group, being produced in court in Guwahati on Tuesday. Guwahati: A day after one of the members of the People’s Consultative Group (PCG) and human right activist Lachit Bordoloi and an Air Deccan executive Sumonta Dutta were arrested in connection with the alleged hijack plot of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), another member of the ULFA constituted group — Hiranya Saikia — alleged that the “state machinery ” had hatched a conspiracy to arrest or eliminate him to scuttle the peace initiative between the militant outfit and the Centre. Mr. Saikia told reporters here on Tuesday that a caller identifying himself as Rupom alias self-styled sergeant major Babul Das of ULFA warned him on Monday night that the outfit would eliminate him. He displayed an SMS which he had received from a cellphone number (94356-12707) informing him of the assassination threat. “When I got the call I suspected foul play as there was standing instruction by the ULFA that other than its chief colonel Paresh Barua or chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa no one will make telephone calls to me.” Police custodyMeanwhile, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metropolitan), remanded Mr. Bordoloi and the Air Deccan executive to police custody for five days.
