Valentine’s Day: The perfect time to show your Love

Love’s in the air, at the dawn of another sweet and dreamy Valentine’s Day. For all those who feel that an enchanting smile on the beloved’s lips is worth more than a million bucks, well, it’s one really special day to talk about love. And more importantly, it is the perfect time to woo your beloved with a surprise gift. Don’t forget that theory which is true in any part of the world that when it comes to conveying a message most effectively, a cute little gift wrapped with love can easily work better than a thousand words.

For those who are of the opinion that the passion of Valentine’s Day is limited for the really young and tender hearts, beware, you’re running out of supporters. Going by the kind of people who make it a point to celebrate the day in style, age can take a back seat for once. On Valentine’s Day, guys and gals reveal their feelings to their beloved with loads of love, jewellery, flowers, cards and candies. Okay, not to forget that going out to a nice restaurant to taste some tasty dishes in a great ambience can add to the excitement as well.

Valentine’s Day has for long been celebrated with much enthusiasm, around the world. Though a bit late to join the trend, Keralites have shown a great interest to celebrate the day in a big way during recent times. The day can start with a cute message on the mobile or a smartly designed card, then a gift and some nice time together, leaving aside the routine tensions for a while. Remember that your actions can have an indelible impression on your sweet heart and who knows, it could make a whole lot of change in the equations as well. As almost everyone lives a hectic life, occasions like the Valentine’s Day makes life more exciting, is what many think.

The business community in Kochi is all geared up to welcome this year’s Valentine’s Day. The big smiles on their faces could be evident signs of the encouraging response to Valentine’s Day this year. Some of them point out that it’s not just the couples that go in for gifts during these occasions, but there are brothers searching something special for their sisters or grand parents buying some cute jewellery for their grand children as well.

Ramesh Pai of A.Geeripai Jewellery at M.G.Road says that “for us, this year’s major attraction for the Valentine’s Day is the exquisitely designed collection of platinum jewellery. The price range starts from Rs.10,000. Platinum is rare and pure and no wonder, it is of great significance for those in love,” smiles Ramesh.

Josco Jewellers has come up with an attractive offer by announcing some gifts for the first 25 couples who drop into buy jewellery at their place on Valentine’s Day. “There is great demand for cute pendants and thin chains for Valentine’s Day gifts. We have lots to choose at our place right from a price range of Rs.2000 onwards,” says Sajeev Varghese of Josco.

To celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day, Joy Alukkas has the ‘Be Mine’ collection of jewellery. This ‘romantic diamond jewellery collection’ from Joy Alukkas starts from Rs.2500. Anish Varghese, Assistant Manager, Marketing of the group reminds that “since diamonds have long been regarded as a girl’s best friend, most people are going for diamond jewellery as the perfect Valentine’s Day gift”.

Paul Alukka of Alukkas Jewellery feels that while choosing the Valentine’s Day gifts, heart shaped pendants, especially in diamonds get the top most priority. He agrees that though the teenagers and the newly weds celebrate it with much excitement, nowadays the older groups too believe in celebrating such occasions.

Ravindranath of Desire collections too emphasizes the growing acceptance of such occasions in the lives of Malayalis. “We have some unique collection of jewellery at our store and already there are customers of all ages who have bought some nice designs for their loved ones,” says he.

It’s not just the jewellery shops who are getting ready to welcome the Valentine’s Day couples. Most of the major hotels in the city are all set to celebrate the day and the attractions range from delicious menu, song, dance and unlimited fun.

The Metropolitan Hotel will be having a special dinner session organised for couples only, with some romantic music, @ Rs.500/- for a couple. It will be totally a candle lit evening with private corners for the couple and a beautiful ambience.

As Valentine’s Day spreads the message of love all around, it’s the time to choose something special, something that would make your beloved really happy. While you get ready to buy that "special gift" for your loved one, keep it in mind that all this could happen thanks to a brave bishop named Valentine, who is regarded as the patron saint of lovers, who showed the courage to give his life for all those who love.
