Poetry in colours: A painting by Subrata Saha. NEW DELHI: A weeklong exhibition of paintings by five talented artists from West Bengal is now on at the All-India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) gallery on Rafi Marg here. The exhibition, which opened on February 8, features works by Chiranjib Bhowmik, Nirupam Ghosh, Niladri Shekhar Majumder, Subrata Saha and Parimal Bhowmick. About the artistsKolkata-born Chiranjib studied at Indian College of Art in the City of Joy. “My art is about life, nature and its various forms that surround it. My most recent effort has been to explore the relationship between human being and nature,” says the artist. After completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Government College of Art and Crafts of Kolkata University, Nirupam has been enthusiastically participating in exhibitions across the country. “For the ongoing show in Delhi, I am showcasing paintings on Jesus Christ and Lord Krishna ,” says the artist. Having the distinction of participating in exhibitions across the country, Niladri says the chief inspiration of his creation is to look into the root of Indian culture. Having graduated from Kolkata’s Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship in 1994, 38-year old Subrata has practised painting and sculpture at the Lalit Kala Akademi in Kolkata and also participated in selected exhibitions across the country. Born in 1965, Parimal graduated from Kolkata’s Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship in 1991. “I mostly do experimental work. I have come out with nine images of Goddess Durga, who is highly revered in our country, for the ongoing exhibition. I am also showcasing my child series of six paintings of children.” The exhibition ends on Thursday.
