‘Take advantage of schemes’

Belgaum: The Assistant Commissioner of Bailhongal, K. Srinivas, has asked the Stree Shakti groups and women to take advantage of income generation schemes and programmes to become self-reliant.

Addressing a seminar organised by the Information Department and the Women and Child Welfare Department in Bailhongal on Tuesday, he said the members of various Stree Shakti groups should take best advantage of the financial support provided by the Government by investing in income generation activities.

They should also think of value addition in their activities to get better prices for their products and services in the market.

He said there were 1,246 Stree Shakti groups in Bailhongal taluk and 1,105 of them were one year old. In addition to financial support of Rs. 5,000 given to each of the 1,105 groups, the Government also conducted training programmes in different skills, according to a release here on Wednesday.
